Salmon River "Canyons" Adventure Details Where is it? Lower panhandle of North Central Idaho, the boat launch at Hammer Creek is a 25 minute drive from our headquarters in Riggins.
What is the minumum age? Seven What class are the rapids and are they dangerous? July through the first of September the rapids are Class III+ with possible Class IV depending on water flows. The Salmon River is known for its drop and pool characteristics with a large flow of water that minimizes some of the inherint risks in whitewater rafting. Our professional and experienced guides are the best at keeping you in the right places for the maximum fun. What is the average group size? 14 to 18 this section is controled to a maximum of 24 clients but we try to keep our trips matched with small groups or families together according to their interests. Our staff will help you find the right trip for you. We offer private trips for 12 or more. How long is this trip? We have some different options depending on time of the year and water flows. 3 days is min. but can shorten the overall trip. 4 and 5 days are the most popular and offer the best experience. 6 day trips are available by request for larger groups, a great option with more time to relax and enjoy the canyons pristine water and beaches. Are there any special physical requirements? No previous experience required, but participants should be in moderately good physical condition. Activities are always more fun when you're physically fit. Spectacular views and wilderness feel in semi arid canyon country; great for swimming with big beach campsites and beach games, great for kids, warm weather, and warm water. What boat types are available? Oar rafts, paddle rafts, inflatable kayaks When is the best time to go? Mid-July thru August for families, September for fishing. What equipment is included? Sleeping bag, pad, pillow, roomy 2 person shared tent included. Everything but your toiletries, personal clothing and items like camera's, book, etc. Why travel with Mountain River Outfitters?
