Owyhee River Rafting "Lower Canyon"   Class IV

Our journey into this region introduces us to a bizarre landscape of lava flows, and cliffs of both sandstone and granite found side by side. Our Lower Owyhee river trip offers spectacular scenery, good whitewater, and the chance to visit a rarely seen part of the United States. The Owyhee boasts a multitude of wildflowers and exotic birds living among the numerous hot springs and awe-inspiring cliffs rising more than 1,500 feet above the river.

• Whitewater - The lower Owyhee is a fun class III+ float that keeps a fun pace throughout.  Fun and exciting but still safe for families and kids 10 years or older.

• Desert Canyon -  Southwest Idaho's high dessert is a formidable area that will remind you of old west movies.  The specacular sedimentary canyon will amaze you with it's unique beauty and rugged terain.

• Hiking opportunities abound everywhere you look, with great overlooks and side canyons full of high dessert flora and fauna.

It is rare to encounter more than one or two other parties on these spring trips. Floating the Owyhee provides an exciting opportunity to see a wild desert canyon in full bloom. Lupine, Indian Paintbrush, and other wild flowers abound. Canadian geese and their goslings are seen frequently along the river. Prairie falcons, eagles, and other raptors soar overhead. Bighorn sheep and pronghorn antelope may be glimpsed scrambling over the rocky talus slopes.

The Owyhee runs in the springtime between mid March and mid June (in some years the season is shorter). Water flows can be variable and occasionally these trips are not available due low water flows.  In the case of water flow issue's youmay reschedule for the following year or opt for an equal trip on the Snake River in Hells Canyon.

This trip starts in Rome and ends at Leslie Gulch.  We do modify this trip to a 5 Day if you desire more time to relax or do more hiking.
